Gratitude Project Day 7 – Grateful Mom Appreciates New Opportunities

I’m really and truly enjoying the Gratitude Project. I was so busy with the day to day aspects of life as a stay at home mom (okay, technically, I was a work at home mom doing some freelance stuff) that I was failing to be a grateful mom for the wonderful things that I do have in my life.  Taking a few minutes each day to reflect on the reasons that I have for being a grateful mom has been really and truly helpful.

Today, I’m grateful for new opportunities.  I spent almost two years working on my old blog on What to Expect.  Now I’m taking a hiatus from projects over there and doing different things.  I’m strictly a stay at home mom now, and I have so many new options open that I’m just floored.  I have the one gift that I was truly lacking and wishing for: time.

I have the time to focus on getting my house back in order.  I can hop back on the FlyLady bandwagon and get everything the way that it used to be before I let myself get too overwhelmed with projects that took my focus away from my family.  My house is already starting to look a little better.  Maybe today I’ll justify some television watching for myself so that I can just fold the mountains of clean laundry that have been languishing in my laundry room.  Maybe I’ll just flit from room to room, giving each one a fifteen minute clean up so that it looks presentable again.

And then, since I’ll have my house back, maybe we’ll even be social and invite people over.  We seldom do that because I always feel like my house needs to be immaculate before anyone else sets foot in it.  Heh.  While I’m at it, I’m grateful for realizing that I need to get over that neurosis since my house will never be perfect with a busy toddler running about.  Now if only I can get over it.

And I’m grateful for the opportunity to do more things with my kid.  The leaves are changing and it’s a brisk, cool day out.  Maybe today I’ll bundle him up, put him in his stroller, and we’ll go check out fall leaves.  Maybe we can come up with some kind of art project or something.  If Norton doesn’t eat the leaves, of course.

I never realized how much time my other projects were taking until I put them away.  Right now, I’m a grateful mom for the freedom that I have to do my own thing.  (Like spend more time on my own website!)

What kind of things are you grateful for?
