32 Weeks Pregnant – A Nesting Frenzy

Finally.  I’m 32 weeks pregnant.  There’s an end in sight.  As much as I’m looking forward to finally having this kid out and moving forward, the more time passes, the more insane that I get.  For about four weeks now, I’ve been in nesting mode.  With each passing week, I get more and more intense about making things happen.  When I woke up and realized that I am now officially 32 weeks pregnant, I was just overwhelmed with thinking about how much there is to do.

Part of what’s adding to my being a bit overwhelmed is that my house is in a slight state of shambles.  After all of our waffling over what to do for kid bedroom arrangements, we finally decided that we’d give Norton a new bedroom and pass the nursery on to Eudora.  That room was the husband’s office/storage.  The smallest bedroom upstairs, we’d decided, would become the husband’s new office space.  However, it was also storage.  We needed to move a lot of stuff into the closet under the stairs, but… that was packed with storage.

With all of this storage space storing stuff that we didn’t need, we came up with one conclusion: we really needed to get rid of some stuff.  The husband likes to keep things, and I’m really proud of how wonderful he’s been with parting with some of his things.  We’ve done tons of recycling… probably a couple of loads to the recycling depot in our van.  We’ve donated.  I’m pretty sure we made at least two trips to our local thrift store.  We’ve made at least two trips to the dump.  (And, by “we”, I mean the husband.  I stayed home with Norton.)  And I’ve listed a lot of stuff on our local buy/sell page on Facebook.  From there, I’ve brought in roughly $500.  It’s not a ton, of course, but it’s more than we’d have gotten by throwing things out or just dropping everything off at the thrift store without thought.  Plus, getting a little bit of cash out of it, even if it’s only a fraction of what we paid, has made it easier for the husband.

As for me, I parted with the majority of Norton’s old baby clothes.  Some are being sent to my friend Funny Mum; she’s having a boy a few days after Eudora is due.  Some I sold.  Some I’ve donated.  And of course, some are being recycled for Eudora.

That’s just the getting rid of stuff part.  That’s not even touching the cooking and cleaning aspect of my nesting frenzy.

Wow.  No wonder I feel overwhelmed sometimes.  Did you go through a massive purge cycle when you were nesting?

  1. I am also 32 weeks and in a purging mode. We put together a garage sale in about 3 days, recycled, dropped off donations. I have soooo much more to do but I feel like it has to be done in a couple of weeks so I can enjoy the last few weeks of pregnancy with my kids!
