Can Body by Vi Improve Family Health?

Fact: my husband has a weight problem.  I’m also not exactly as slim and trim as I used to be, regardless of how much I work out (when I’m not pregnant).  We’ve done various things to improve our family health.  You know the usual suspects: better nutrition, more home cooking and less take out, and so forth.  Not only is family health important because I love my husband and want to keep him around for… well, ever, but I also want to provide healthy lifestyle examples for Norton and Eudora.  It’ll be easier for them to focus on family health as adults if they have a good background to begin with.

My husband has taken a step, hopefully, towards improving his own health.  After various diet and exercise programs haven’t worked, I started paying attention to what some of my friends had tried with good results.  As of Sunday, he started the Body by Vi 90 day challenge.  And he started doing something else that I’ve been nagging him to do (and I’ve even tried bribery).  He started working out.  Okay, he’s not doing anything like P90x-2, but he’s having fun in the process and definitely working up a sweat.  He’s been doing the XBox 360 Your Shape Fitness Evolved 2012, and while the calorie counter seems wickedly selfish, it seems to be working for him.

The thing that I’m hoping will make this time different than the other times that I’ve tried to encourage him to lose weight is the Body by Vi shakes and my own role in his fitness.  I’m not just leaving him to his own devices.  Heck, I’m not even just encouraging him.  For breakfast, he gets a shake.  And I know that’s what he has for breakfast because I make it for him.  (Of course, there’s nothing to stop him from doing a Tim Horton’s run on the way to the office, but I can’t take all the responsibility for his health and nutrition.)

I haven’t started on the program with him yet, but I’m planning on doing so as soon as I am done being pregnant and have made a decision regarding breastfeeding.  That being said, though, I have sampled the shakes that I’ve made him.  So far, I’ve made him a “peanut brittle” shake, which tastes a lot like a liquified Butterfinger bar.  I made him a blueberry banana shake this morning, and a cranberry shake for lunch this afternoon.  All of them are pretty darned tasty.  I suspect the fact that the protein shake powder actually smells like yellow cake mix helps quite a bit.

It’s a start, though.  Have you or any of your family members done anything like Body by Vi to get your weight loss started?  How did it work for you?

  1. It’s working for me so far! DH is even starting it 😉 It’s kinda of wierd that these things are actually good enough that I look forward to them! My 3 year olds even like them.
