Philosophies of a Cloth Diaper Addict – Best Bottom Diaper

Philosophies of a Cloth Diaper Addict – Best Bottom Diaper (Cloth Diaper Addicts)

There’s no way a cloth diaper addict like me can refuse a limited edition Best Bottom diaper

Sometimes, I have to just sit and wax poetic about my cloth diaper addiction.  I am completely okay with being a cloth diaper addict.  I don’t even fight it anymore.  But sometimes, I have to question the purchases that I make.  (And sometimes I have to blame someone for the purchases that I make as a cloth diaper addict.  This one is Heather’s fault.)

Lately, I’ve decided that I really, really love the Best Bottom diaper.  After all, it survived a prune poo with amazing success.  But, really, I don’t need to buy any other Best Bottom diaper shells for my cloth diaper stash.  When Best Bottom announced the Jack o’ Lantern shell as a Nicki’s Diapers exclusive, I decided that I was going to skip it.  Sure, it’s a limited print.  Sure, it’s a great diaper.  However, I really don’t like orange.  It’s not a color that I frequently put on my children, anyway.  With that in mind, it would be a diaper that I would not use very frequently.

At least, that’s what I told myself.

I was fine with my decision.

But I kept casting longing looks at a diaper that was limited, and would be even rarer in Canada.  As a cloth diaper addict and collector (not a hoarder, darn it), owning a rare specimen was pretty darned appealing to me.  I caved.  I ordered that darned diaper.  I now have a Jack o’ Lantern Best Bottom diaper shell on the way.  It won’t be here in time for Halloween, but that’s not the point.  And it’ll be cute with some of Eudora’s striped onesies with orange on them.

On the plus side, I discovered that Nicki’s Diapers does ship to Canada without charging an exorbitant shipping fee.  It was about $2 USD more to ship it to my house in Prince George than to ship it to my American pipeline.  (Then I’d have had to pay for my American pipeline to ship it back to me.  So, yeah, much cheaper!  I actually did it on accident.)  And I get to try some training pants that I’ve had my eye on for Norton that aren’t available at my favorite places to buy diapers.  So, win!

Am I kind of wondering if maybe buying that diaper was a bright idea?  Sure.  But I’d have been even more upset with myself if I’d debated and debated until it was gone.

Did you get the Jack o’ Lantern shell?  How did you like it?

  1. Haha I am with you on being addicted to cloth, I just bought some cloth diapers today and felt slightly guilty, we definitely do not need more diapers, but they make me happy and they are so many prints and brands that are on my wish list 🙂

  2. I am not a fan of Best Bottoms, they didn’t have enough stretch for me to get a good fit with my kids. I am happy to hear about Nickis diapers shipping to Canada for such a reasonable price, that is awesome! I will have to look at what they have, maybe I need a new diaper too.

  3. My wife is a stay at home mom and cloth diaper hoarder 🙂 She loves teaching new parents about how to prepare, wash and use cloth diapers. She runs http://www.kerrbearkids.com where she has FAQs on cloth diapers and a great selection of new cloth diapers and leg warmers.
