Best Bottom Diaper – A Surprising Overnight Cloth Diapering Solution

Nothing contains poopsplosions quite like Best Bottom cloth diapers

I love my Best Bottom diapers.  I’ve waxed poetic about the Best Bottom diaper and its ability to contain prune poopsplosions.  In fact, the Best Bottom diaper was number one on my best and worst diapers for poo list.  For all of the things that I loved about it, though, I never really considered it to be a viable option for an overnight cloth diapering solution.

Last month, I ordered a Best Bottom diaper overnight insert in microfiber.  As soon as I ordered it, I kicked myself in the backside.  The Best Bottom overnight insert is actually a doubler designed to be snapped under a standard Best Bottom insert (either in hemp or microfiber topped with microfleece).  I prefer the stay-dry microfiber top inserts for their ability to quickly wick away moisture.  I prefer my extra stuffing for overnight cloth diapering solutions, as a rule, to be a natural fiber like bamboo or hemp.

Still, though, I decided to bite the bullet and give it a shot.  If Eudora had a compression leak, then whatever.  I was due to change her sheets anyway.

In the morning, I was amazed.  Not only was the bed dry, but so were Eudora’s pajamas.  When I changed her, I found that there were still a couple of dry inches of insert in the diaper.  I seriously expected the Best Bottom diaper to fail me this time around.

I think I’m going to have to order a hemp overnight insert and see how that works.  The hemp overnight insert might just make it so that Norton could sleep in his Best Bottom trainers.  We’ll have to see!

Have you used the Best Bottom diaper with an overnight insert?  How did it work for you?

Best Bottom works better for overnight than any of my double stuffed pocket diapers! They are kind of bulky with the overnight doubler and regular insert together but my little one doesnt seem to mind and it gets the job done!

    • Overnights is the one time that I really don’t care about bulk. As long as they stay dry and sleep, it’s all good!

  2. Awesome! Strangely enough, I have a micro doubler that I’ve been too afraid/doubtful to use. And our overnights have gotten to be a struggle. Looks like I’ll be trying it tonight!
