Why I Love Cloth Diapers #clothdiaperhop

Cloth Diaper Blog Hop 2013 With a site called Cloth Diaper Addicts and a Facebook group called Cloth Diaper Addicts Anonymous, it’s fairly obvious that I love cloth diapers.  I love cloth diapers so much that I spend a good chunk of my spare time as a volunteer for Cloth for a Cause.  But why do I love cloth diapers?  Oh, that’s a fairly lengthy list.

I Love Cloth Diapers for Cost Savings

If I used cloth diapers like a normal person and had a reasonable size stash, I would have had a significant cost savings.  A premium brand cloth diaper stash, assuming an extremely pricey stash of 30 cloth diapers for $30 each would be $900 and should last for the lifetime of one child.  However, I don’t think I’ve come across any premium cloth diapers with a base price of $30 per diaper.  Best Bottom diapers figures that it’s $401.78 USD for cloth diapering a single child with their product.

Granted, when one buys the quantity of diapers that I’ve bought, the cost savings benefit is lost… but it makes me happy.  I don’t know of anyone who delights in buying disposable diapers.

Cloth Diapers are Sustainable

When the dreaded day comes that all of my children are potty trained, my cloth diapers will still be able to be passed on to someone else.  Some of my diapers will be sold, some will be given away, and others will be donated to charity.  If it’s a loose elastic, that can be replaced.  (In fact, my local chapter of Cloth for a Cause will replace damaged elastics for a $4 donation per diaper.)  If it’s a busted snap, it can be replaced.  (My CFAC chapter replaces those for a donation, too.)   Loose Velcro can be repaired.  Really, the only thing that’s not ultimately fixable is delamination, and even those diapers can be used for other things.

Cloth Diapers are Cute

Why I Love Cloth Diapers (Cloth Diaper Addicts)

Eudora is modeling the Blueberry one size pocket diaper in Butterflies.

I have a gorgeous array of colors and patterns in my cloth diaper stash.  I have so much fun buying outfits to coordinate with diapers and buying diapers to coordinate with outfits.  It’s ridiculous how much pleasure I get from coordinating the cute.  I never use those silly diaper covers that come with little girl dresses.  Why on earth would I want to hide Eudora’s beautiful diapers?  It’s much more fun to just make sure it matches.

My favorite part of cloth diapers is how cute they are. I have so much fun with all the colors and patterns. It’s addicting.

At first it was for the cost-saving element, but now it’s about the wide array of prints and supporting wahm’s! I absolutely love the stash I’m building currently. It has surpassed the recommended amount for full-time cding one child, but this is our first and I want to have options Incase certain ones don’t workout the way I had hoped. (At least that’s how I justify buying more…. Shhhh)
