You know, I’m fairly coordinated. I wouldn’t say that I’m going to be the next Laker girl or whatever, but I did my time in dancerettes. I used to be the girl who twirled the flag at football games. In adult life, I was the petite thing who unloaded trucks in receiving and down stacked her own pallets. You have to be coordinated to do these things. I didn’t expect to succumb to clumsiness during pregnancy.Every morning, I get up about an hour and a half to two hours before my husband. I get up, get a shower, and then I start making breakfast and packing his lunch. Breakfast is always an elaborate affair in my house. It’s my favorite meal to cook. Today, I made banana oatmeal pancakes, turkey bacon, and scrambled eggs with Monterey Jack cheese. I usually bring it down to my husband for breakfast in bed. It’s the best way to get him up.
I am no longer the graceful little dancerette. Sometimes when I’m in the kitchen, I will be attacked by food. I opened my husband’s jar of organic peanut butter to start on his lunch, only to have a ton of peanut oil fly out of the jar whilst I attempted to wrestle off that stupid safety cover. It was all over my lovely shirt. 🙁 I even managed to get it on my shoes.
I dropped an egg while trying to crack them open to whip for his wonderfully fluffy scrambled eggs.
I opened the yogurt for the pancakes and tried to peel off the foil. Again, stuff flew at me out of the container.
My husband did not have breakfast in bed this morning. He woke up because I was swearing. A lot. And loudly. Especially when I burned myself on the pan while flipping pancakes.
At some point in the day, I fully expect my coordination to return. For now, though, I’m not touching *anything*. I’m not even going to touch the keyboard once I finish this blog entry, because I can’t even type properly today. 😛
I know that it cannot be like this for the length of my pregnancy. I can’t handle having the dropsies, all day, every day, for the next 34 weeks.
Did you cope with clumsiness during pregnancy? How long did it last?
Originally written July 21, 2009. That whole clumsiness during pregnancy thing didn’t actually go away until after Norton made his appearance… and the wonderful tradition of breakfast in bed for the husband every morning? Yeah, that didn’t last.
