If You Give a Kid an iPad…

Everyone loves the classic book If You Give a Mouse a Cookie and its sequels like If You Give a Moose a Muffin and If You Give a Pig a Pancake.Β  It’s all about how when you do something, there are consequences, whether planned or otherwise.Β  It turns out that if you give a kid an iPad, it’s no different.

If You Give a Kid an iPadIf You Give a Kid an iPad (Cloth Diaper Addicts)

If you give a kid an iPad… then she’ll need a fancy case to protect it.

Then she’ll need an app to play.

After that, she’ll want to sing a song.

Then she’ll need a drink…

When she spills the drink on the iPad, she’ll cry.

Then you’ll need to get a towel to help clean it up.

When she sees the towel, she’ll insist that she can do it herself.

Then it’ll get on the floor.

After that, you’ll need to get out the Spot Bot to clean the carpet.

She’ll hear the Spot Bot and then run off to avoid the noise.

She’ll take the iPad with her.

She’ll fall asleep in her room with the game on.

The iPad battery will run down.

You’ll gently slip away with the iPad to charge it

After she wakes up from her nap, she’ll run out into the living room with great enthusiasm.

Then she’ll see the iPad and want to play an app.

  8. LOL! Eudora is pretty darn cute! It’s fascinating that our kids all seem to intuitively know how to use electronics.. mine is the same, not even 3 and she can get a DVD out, get the TV on and play her movie without my help!

  9. Haha! This is too cute. Good job.

First off let me say I love this post. It is so true. I am also a HUGE fan of the If You Give book series. We have them all except the one with the kitten. Both of my girls have If You Give a Pig a Pancake memorized. I remember If You Give a Mouse a Cookie being one of my favorite books in the second grade. We even made our own books based off of that (I still have mine, lol).

  11. …and then you add another child into the mix and there is nothing but pure chaos πŸ˜‰

My boys even have “imaginary iPads” that they play with in the car…even then they fight over them.

My 6 year old loves playing angry birds on my Nook. I finally taught him how to properly shut down so he don’t keep my batteries. Sadly for me as I taught him how to shut down my 2 year old discovered it so now yet again I find it in random places and it doesn’t even have enough juice to power up!!

I ordered them a Leapfrog GS for Christmas… I have my fingers crossed they will play that instead of my nook lol

  16. I feel like this is in embedded in our child’s minds out of the womb. My 8 month old can just about operate a tablet with very little difficulty.

  17. So cute. My boys LOVE the ipad. We have an older one that we use just for them. It amazes me how well they can work it.

  18. I was a bit hesitant at first to introduce the iPad to our infant son, but the bottom line is that in today’s world kids will get introduced to advanced technology one way or another. Heck, I still can’t believe that some schools are giving iPads to every kid. My son loves the apps we have on the iPad for him and they are fairly educational, so I don’t mind. Even folks that were skeptical that we were letting our son play with the tablet were won over once they saw the apps πŸ™‚

  19. I love it! My cousin has been debating on whether or not to introduce the iPad to her daughter, but as I told her, it could really help her learn a few things since there are so many great children’s apps available nowadays.
