I don’t do New Year’s resolutions. Ever. However, I am a fan of setting goals for myself. Goals are a long term thing to accomplish, while New Year’s resolutions are a “I’ll do this forever or never do this again starting January 1!” That’s really, really not my bag. Goals are something that can be set any time, for any reason.
So, with that in mind, these are the things that I want to accomplish in 2014.
1.) I want to get back into building a train track for Norton every week. He really did enjoy having them to play with, and now that Eudora is getting less destructive, they’ll last longer than five minutes.
2.) Norton loves arts and crafts. I’d like to get us in the habit of doing at least one messy arts and crafts project a week. I have a Cricut machine. I should use it.
3.) Yeah, the weather is pretty crappy and there’s a ton of snow, but Eudora loves it outside. Norton will generally suck it up and tolerate going at least… but it can’t be all about him. I need to bring them out with me when I shovel the driveway during the cold. And in the warmer months? Prince George has a lot of parks. Three of them are within walking distance of my house. Two of them have playgrounds. We’re going to make better use of them.
4.) Engage in more imaginative play with the kids, especially Norton. He needs to be taught how to play more.
5.) Get Eudora interested in the potty.
6.) Temper my expectations. Norton is not a perfect child who is unfailingly obedient. He’s far from it. Realize that there will be problems and be happy with the child that I have.
1.) My house runs better when I’m on the FlyLady bandwagon. I need to dust off my copy of Sink Reflections and get back into the swing of things. Not to mention Norton’s behavior is much better when the house is orderly. He doesn’t seem to respond well to the chaos.
2.) I will do more cooking of food. Less prepared things, more actually just cooking it.
1.) Drink more water. This might require that I get some kind of water bottle that Norton can’t open because I’m pretty fed up with him swiping my water bottles and drinking out of them. Once he touches one, I never touch it again because, ew, backwash.
2.) Get off the couch. Take the monsters to the mall to play in the play area or something. Do something that involves leaving the house. It’s good for my sanity.
3.) Complete Slim in 6.
4.) Remember to take my darned pills.
Yes, I’d like to lose weight, but I do find that with PCOS, I have to work harder, longer, etc. It’s discouraging. Since I don’t get any form of gratification from the scale, I tend to just sort of… well, give up. So maybe it’s in my best interests to just focus on keeping up with my spawn.
1.) Figure out what to do with Cloth Diaper Compendium.com.
2.) Post daily.
What kind of goals do you have for the year?
