Selecting the Perfect Ring Is Simple When Done Thoughtfully

A wedding ring is a powerful symbol of the union that you and your partner will share for the rest of your lives, so careful consideration is vitally important when making this selection. There are a number of different types and designs of bridal ring, allowing for the potential for being overwhelmed by so many different and strikingly beautiful options. Many of these rings, especially engagement rings, come with diamonds, so if you are not already familiar with the four Cs, you must take some time out to research and learn:

  • Cut
  • Clarity
  • Color
  • Carat

Make a Mutual Decision

Making a mutual decision is advisable except in the instance of buying an engagement ring. If you plan on maintaining the element of surprise in your proposal, it is not always the best idea to include your future fiancé in the ring-buying process. In these instances, it is best that you include your significant other’s mother and maybe even a close friend of hers as well. They can help you choose a ring that will fit her style and taste.

However, choosing the wedding bands is a different story. This decision should most certainly be made mutually. This way you can choose a design and style that best represents the nature of your relationship with one another – see more at http://shaneco.com.

Include Your Specific Tastes

Knowing your style is crucial. I like small, simple vintage styles like this one. It fits my busy lifestyle with kids and my tiny hands.

Knowing your style is crucial. I like small, simple vintage styles like this one. It fits my busy lifestyle with kids and my tiny hands.

It is essential to bear in mind that this is a ring that you and your significant other will be wearing for every day of the rest of your lives. This makes it imperative that it meets your wants and needs in terms of the style that you end up selecting. There are so many options when it comes to ring design that you really should be able to find something that meets your unique tastes.

Consider Your Budget

This is so important that it bears repeating: The rings that you select are rings that you will wear for the rest of your lives. While it is important to consider your budget when purchasing your rings, also remember that this is a very long-term investment and your budget alone should not heavily influence your decision. If you have to exceed your budget in order to get the ring that you really want, then you absolutely should. After all, you will be wearing this ring on a daily basis.

Make Your Decision Confidently

When it finally comes time to make your decision on which ring to choose, make sure you are confident in doing so. Do not feel bad about having to take some extra time to think about your decision to make sure that you get it right. Conversely, if you feel strongly about the ring that you want, do not feel as though you have to hesitate. You want to feel sure about the decision you are making, so do not pull the trigger until you are absolutely ready to do so.

When you know what type of ring you want and the type of style that best suits your needs, the process of selecting the rings for your engagement and wedding are that much easier. Make sure that you have conducted your due diligence so that when the time comes, you are able to make your selection comfortably and confidently.

Books = BEST GIFTS EVER!

As a bookworm from way back, there’s nothing that I loved more than getting books. Getting a good book as a gift was even better! Now that I’m a mom who is intent on raising readers, a good book for my littles is equally important.

Not convinced? Here’s six reasons why books are best.

How To Achieve Sultry Evening Eyes

Almost everyone knows how to apply casual eye makeup for a day at work or a fun outing with a friend, but most women don’t know how to achieve that sultry evening eye look that the movie stars always have. If you have been dying to know how to make your eyes look more exotic and sultry for an important dinner date or evening party, here are some steps you should follow.

  1. Prepare Your Eyes

If you want to increase the life of your eye shadow and keep it from creasing, then you should always prepare your eyes before applying make-up. Gently clean your eyes to remove any oily residues or traces of previous makeup, then pat them dry and apply a gentle moisturizing eye cream. The cream will help to minimize any imperfections in your makeup and will provide a good base for your eye shadow.

  1. Apply Eye Shadow Base

If you have never used an eye shadow base before, then it is time for you to give it a try. Choose an eye shadow base that is slightly lighter than your natural skin tone and apply a thin layer across your eyelid and directly beneath your eyes. You will be amazed at how much easier it is to smoothly apply eye shadow when you properly apply an eye shadow base beforehand.

  1. Apply First Eye Shadow Shade

Now it is time to apply the first color in your smoky eye shadow palette. You should choose an eye shadow palette that has at least two colors. The first color that you apply will be swept across your entire eyelid and should be a fairly deep color in order to achieve a sultry look. Make sure you sweep the color slightly upward at the outer corners of your eyes and blend it so that it makes your eyes appear wider.

  1. Apply Second Eye Shadow Shade

The second shade of eye shadow should be applied to the outer corners of your eyes and should be darker than the first shade that you applied. This will accentuate the outer corners of your eyes and help you to achieve that sultry look. Make sure you blend the two colors so you don’t have a noticeable line where the two colors meet. Gently sweep the darker color out and upwards so that it gets more faint and smoky as it nears your brow.

5.      Highlight The Brow Bone

To complete the eye shadow portion of your smoky eye look, highlight your brow bones with a lighter, slightly shimmery shade. Make sure you blend all three colors well so that your smoky eyes look smooth and sultry rather than rough and splotchy.

6.      Apply Eye Liner

For sultry eyes, it is a good idea to use very dark eyeliner and then gently smooth it out with the buffing end of your eyeliner. Apply the eyeliner to your entire upper eyelids, being careful to keep as close to the eyelash line as possible. Once you are finished with the top, apply a lighter layer of eyeliner to your bottom lids, then gently buff it out until there is a smoky hue instead of a distinct line.

7.      Apply Mascara

To finish off your smoky eye look, apply a very dark shade of mascara, being careful to coat your eyelashes evenly and remove any clumps. Go easy on the lower lashes and only apply a very thin layer of mascara.

Once you have followed the above steps you will have sultry evening eyes that will get you noticed at any dinner date.

Green is for go.

Looking after the environment is becoming more and more important to us and celebrities are taking it upon themselves to promote various eco friendly uses as well as adapting many eco friendly practices themselves.  A lot of the big Hollywood stars can be seen out and about in their electric cars including George Clooney and Cameron Diaz.  Leo DiCaprio flies on commercial planes and uses his bicycle and many are using solar panels on their homes in an effort to cut down on electricity usage.  Designer Stella McCartney won a green award for her clothes and shoes range as she refuses to use fur or leather on her products.

A lot of people know the obvious ways to be green but as a pet owner there are more green actions you can take to help the environment whilst looking after your animal.  Every small action will help, for example walk your dog close to home, don’t get in the car to drive somewhere to walk unless you have no option but to do so.  Make sure you pick up your dogs mess and dispose of it responsibly in the allocated bins.   You can buy green products for your cat and dog, dog beds, clothes and accessories made out of recycled material for example.  Look for dog food and cat food that only uses natural products and is made out of recycled packaging or recyclable packaging.  If you want to go the whole hog you can even make your own bedding and toys for your pet out of your old clothes and material.  For example old bedding stacked together will make for a comfortable dog bed, socks tied together make for a great pull toy or bunched together to make a ball to throw and retrieve.  If you are good at sewing you can even fashion together mice or bird toys for cats to enjoy.

A lot of celebrities own pets and whilst some go to extreme lengths to build their dogs unique houses others are environmentally aware and will be taking responsible actions to ensure they are a green pet owner.

Buying a Used Car? Research!

This post brought to you by Insurance Hunter. All opinions are 100% mine.

My oldest is about to turn 16.  That means driver’s license and car.  I remember the kind of abuse that I put my first car through when I was 16.  With that in mind, I’m not willing to put any sort of investment in getting him a brand new car.  (My own van is far from new.  There’s no way my kid is getting a nicer vehicle than I’ve got myself!) 7 Flowers You Will Never See In The Wild Again

Beautiful flowersFebruary is a month of romance.  The days leading up to the fateful 14th are often filled with men searching for flowers, women looking for a new outfit, and people generally trying to woo each other in any way they can think of. Interestingly enough, however, when you look at the history of Valentine’s Day, there is little mention of such romantic things as bouquets, candlelit dinners and nights out on the town.  The background of the day has little to do with lovers, and more to do with classical martyrs in ancient Europe, although the facts are hazy.  Before we know it, however, there will be other martyrs resulting from this day, this time in the form of flora. Insurance Hunter Makes Car Insurance Fast and Easy

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Insurance Hunter for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

Once upon a time, buying insurance meant visiting an agent.  You’d tell them what you needed to have covered.  You’d review your driving history and your partner’s driving history.  You’d cringe when it was time to add your teen to your Auto Insurance plan.  And of course, you’d get a call back from your agent at the worst possible time, usually when the baby was napping.  Then there was the process of loading up the kids and taking them to the insurance agent’s office while  you signed papers and hoped that your kids would be cooperative.

Insurance Hunter takes care of all of that.  In under 20 minutes, I was able to fill out an online form.  I answered those same questions about driving history, but I was able to do it from the comfort of my own couch.  (Well, relative comfort.  I probably would have finished a lot sooner had it not been for the border collie trying to climb in my lap or the toddler trying to pull the border collie’s tail.  And I certainly would have been more comfortable.)  As soon as I was finished filling out that information, Insurance Hunter gave me a list of quotes of the top insurance companies in Ontario, so it’s all companies that you can trust.  All that was left was for me to decide which Car Insurance plan I wanted to choose.

It was definitely an easy thing that only took a few minutes of my time.  I’m now convinced that the best way to shop for insurance is from my couch at the Insurance Hunter site.  Stop by today and give their rate finder tool a shot.  You’ll save some time, and you might even save some money.

Does Driving in a School Zone Scare You?

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Insurance Hunter for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

I remember dropping my son off at school.  It was honestly one of the scariest parts of my day.  Not because I hated him leaving me to go out into the big bad world or what have you.  That was a learning experience.  The scary part was trying to drop him off in the school parking lot.  People drove like maniacs.  Add snow and ice to the equation and I’m amazed that we didn’t have any fatalities.

My best friend teaches elementary school elsewhere, and it seems that car loop duty is just as terrifying there.
