Since hanging out on the Cotton Babies Flash Mob Facebook group, I’ve learned that there’s a lot of interest in the Genius Series diapers… as well as some questions about what diapers are, in fact, part of the Genius Series and a whole lot of other questions. So with that in mind, I bring you the Comprehensive Guide to the bumGenius Genius Series Diapers.
The bumGenius Jules diaper has just flown off the shelves. People were so amazed (and maybe a bit disappointed) that when the bumGenius Audrey came out, people decided to buy it if they could get it, even if they weren’t sure they really liked it.
There’s also been a lot of hard feelings among those who don’t have a bumGenius Jules or Audrey. There’s been more than a tiny bit of anger at Cotton Babies for making such limited runs… and at the moms who are essentially flipping them for more than double the retail price.
I get it. It’s frustrating to have a diaper sell out insanely fast and to have retailers have to put limits so one person can’t buy an entire case of them to mark up. It’s frustrating to be in Canada since our Audrey diapers are just now starting to filter in. [Read more…]
Check out my little cutie pie! Eudora is modeling the bumGenius 4.0 in Hummingbird. The green color is a perfect match to the green in the butterfly on her shirt. Her smile is the perfect complement to anything!
Where to buy bumGenius 4.0: Cozy Bums (Canada), Diaper Junction (US/Can), Lagoon Baby (Canada), Kelly’s Closet (US), Kissed by the Moon (US/Can), Nicki’s Diapers (US/Canada), Cloth Diaper Addicts Amazon Shoppe (US)
Check out this little cutie pie! She’s modeling a bumGenius Freetime in Lovelace. Lovelace is one of the original diapers from the Genius series. It’s currently out of print, but there are other genius series diapers that have been produced since then.
Oh, Jenn Labit, you’re whipping your bumGenius fans into a frenzy! Over the last couple of months, it’s been a near continuous stream of new bumGenius selections. And yesterday, you did it again with a new bumGenius color. Meet the bumGenius Armadillo.
Once again, Cotton Babies has released a diaper in colors from Picadilly Circus and Top Hat. The grey used here is the same as the limited edition Artist Series Top Hat and serves to replace some of the discontinued colors from last year. And instead of setting trends, Cotton Babies has followed trends by releasing another grey diaper.
Armadillo is set to ship to stores in May. Cozy Bums, my cloth diaper “dealer,” has already placed her pre-order.
My Thoughts on the New bumGenius Color
It’s a nice grey. It’s a truly gender neutral color. But I have to admit, I hate the name armadillo. I’m from Florida. To me, armadillos are those stinking things that are always on the side of the road. I’ve never actually seen a live one, but I saw a picture of a live one and was shocked at how ugly they are. Yuck. As much as I don’t wish anything ill, I have to admit that the ones that are dead and stinking on the side of the road are about as attractive as the live ones. I can think of other words for grey that would be much, much more attractive mental picture for me. And I can manage that even with the double letter trend that seems to be in all of their solids.
In a nutshell? Color is a win. Name is a fail.
What do you think of the new bumGenius color? Will you be adding the Armadillo to your stash?
I’m half surprised at how quickly the new bumGenius Audrey has sold out. On one hand… after how fast the Jules diaper went, I expected a lot of women to buy quickly so that they could get it. On the other, I saw more than one person comment that she hated the new bumGenius Audrey diaper.
Regardless of how one feels about Audrey Hepburn (the actress and activist that the bumGenius Audrey is named for), one thing is quite certain: this diaper has sold out less than 24 hours after its release. It’s undetermined how many retailers have gotten it and how many diapers were actually made… but we do know that Cotton Babies has stated that it is a Limited Edition. [Read more…]
Today’s cute fluffy bum model is my Eudora! She’s showing off her Irish Pride in a Hello Kitty t-shirt and a bumGenius 4.0 diaper in Countess. Why is she under the table? Well, she’d done something not terribly regal inside the Countess diaper and it needed a change.
Jennifer Labit has been doing a great job of keeping the buzz of new diapers going for Cotton Babies. We’ve had some beautiful things come out over the last few months. The last bumGenius Genius Series diapers to release were the beautiful, highly sought after, and briefly available Jules and Carroll diapers. Now? We’ve got a new beauty for the bumGenius Genius Series diapers…
Meet the Audrey. The Audrey is a bit different from her predecessors in the bumGenius Genius Series. Not since the Albert have we had a Genius Series named for the first name of the inspiration.
The Audrey is to celebrate a style icon and beautiful actress of the past: Audrey Hepburn. Much like her namesake, the Audrey is decked out in beautiful sunglasses. The shade of pink used is the perfect representation of Audrey Hepburn and the pinks of her lipstick and blush in the films My Fair Lady and Breakfast at Tiffany’s. (Granted, it’s what they’ve been colorized to look like now, but still, it’s a beautiful, fresh pink that is now associated with Hepburn.)
At the time of publication, I have no information about when it will hit stores… but it’s safe to guess that it will be released at Cotton Babies stores some time this week, and will start hitting American stores in the next few days. It will most likely make it to Canada two weeks after it’s widely available in the US.
We’re also not aware of how long this release will last. Will it be a single run like the ultra limited Jules and Carroll? Or will it be a long term release like Albert and Lovelace, or something in between like Irwin and Maathai?
Hopefully we’ll find out in the next few days how long this release will last. What do you think of the Audrey? Is she a worthy addition to the bumGenius Genius Series?
Today’s cute fluffy bum features my own little beautiful disaster. Eudora is wearing a bumGenius 4.0 in the discontinued genius pattern Lovelace. She (and the entire kitchen) are coated in about five pounds of flour.
